In 1998, the furnishing department store Aatrium and, in 2000, the Järve Selver supermarket, were opened on the site of the dilapidated warehouse and production buildings of the company Silikaat, which had been operating in Järve, Tallinn, since 1910, but had moved production to Männiku in 1997. The whole complex was constructed on the basis of the design prepared by Jaak Huimerinna and Indrek Saarepera, and the Järve Keskus shopping centre, which primarily sells furnishings, was opened on 1 October 2002. In 2007, the planning of the extension of the shopping centre was launched. K-Projekt prepared demolition design documents for the demolition of the structures on the site of the planned extension – a boiler plant, fire water tank, and two lightweight storage buildings – as well as several smaller sheds and auxiliary buildings. In addition to road construction, K-Projekt designed the necessary external utility networks.
