The Sõpruse–Vilde–Sütiste intersection was one of the most dangerous junctions in Mustamäe as its traffic scheme was designed at a time when there was considerably less traffic in the area. The design for the reconstruction of the intersection was prepared by K-Projekt and the construction work was carried out by Skanska EMV. The total cost of the project was 44 million Estonian kroons. During the reconstruction work, a traffic light system was built, roads were widened, turning lanes were built for all directions, the masts of the overhead lines for trolleybuses were relocated, and traffic islands were built for pedestrians.
